DTA – The district

DTA, Italy’s number-one aerospace technological district, was established in 2004 through the Framework Agreement (APQ) signed by Regione Lazio, Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR). Lazio Innova, the regional financial investment agency dedicated to supporting innovation, manages the DTA on behalf of Regione Lazio, coordinating and ensuring the fulfilment of its activities in the following areas:

  • Industrial research
  • Training
  • Technology transfer
  • Support for innovative projects and research activities
  • Support for business creation and/or growth
  • Support for developing innovation and business networks
  • Venture capital supporting business development
  • Developing and operating laboratory infrastructures
  • Large-scale demonstration projects.

The Industrial System

Lazio’s aerospace sector boasts a sound tradition dating back to the start of the last century. It comprises:

  • Large-scale enterprises and manufacturing units playing a pivotal role in complex international production chains
  • Small - and medium-sized manufacturers
  • Companies providing high added value technical/industrial services and support
  • Aerospace sub-supply companies operating in the electronics, advanced materials, avionics, and communication sectors

Satellite service (EO, SAT NAV, SATcom), aeronautical, maintenance and airport (ATM) companies. Satellites, solid-fuel engines, components of the Ariane and Vega launch systems and of air-to-air and air-to ground systems, radar, and equipping systems for aircraft and helicopters as well as aeronautical structures are designed and assembled in the many existing plants all over the Lazio region.
